God Sent Jesus To Save The World?

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

If this is so, why isn't everybody automatically saved?

(John 3:16-17 ESV) “16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.'

Scripture Thought:

John 3:16 is one of the most well-known scriptures in the Bible. It is a scripture that is repeated thousands of times during Sunday worship services at Christian churches. What I find unique about this scripture is a lot of people misinterpret the scripture and think Jesus only came into the world to save Christians. This would be wrong as there were NO Christians in the world when Jesus came into the world. God actually sent Jesus to save all of mankind (the world), I will shed more light on this as we go. God wanted all of His creation to be with Him, as a matter of fact in 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) at the end of the verse it says "He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent."

Our Heavenly Father's intention in sending Jesus into the world was to be a lifeline (Savior) to everyone that is here. To understand this, you first must understand that this world is in a fallen state (no longer perfect) and all the people that are born into it since Adam and Even (which is everyone) are born disconnected from God.

Quick Note: Adam and Eve's sins separated them from God. Since then, everyone born from them has also been separated from God. You can read way more about this in (Genesis 1-3), it will make a great Bible study, I gave you the 1-cent version.

Since the world and all of its people are already condemned (separated from God) (John 3:18), God put a plan in place to save His fallen creation (mankind). That plan is outlined in John 3:16, and Jesus is the protagonist (advocate or champion) in the plan. Within this plan is the answer to the question, did God send Jesus into the world to save it? The answer is yes, but you also play a huge part in this plan. This is why you are not automatically saved. There is something that you must do to receive Jesus' salvation. The scripture in John 3:16 says "whoever believes in him should not perish," you must believe in Jesus Christ. Simply put, you must make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior to receive His salvation from condemnation.

My Thoughts:

All of us are born separated from God, and all of us need a Savior, the name of the only possible Savior is Jesus Christ. I have a teaching that I did years ago that will give you a better understanding of this. I encourage you to watch this, especially if you want to have more insight into this area of study.

Challenge:

Seek God continually in your life! Seek to know Him and His Word better on a consistent basis because this will give you a better understanding of who He is as you develop a greater relationship with Him.

Prayer:

Ask your Heavenly Father to help you to understand His Word and give you the wisdom and understanding needed to act upon it.
