If Jesus is not your Lord, He cannot be your Savior. Let me explain!
(Matthew 7:21 ESV) '21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.'
Scripture Thought:
This is what I call a tough scripture to follow! A verse where Jesus makes it very plain who makes it into Heaven. The only people who make it into Heaven are those who do the will of My (Jesus) Father. Wow, Jesus made it so plain to us that it gets rid of all other thoughts and beliefs about how to make it into Heaven. Your good works won't do it, you being a so-called good person won't do it, you trying to help people won't do it, you sitting up in church every week won't do it. Well then, what does it? The answer is to live your life within "the will of God." How do I live a lifestyle within the "will of God?" Jesus gave us the answer within scripture.
When Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven." The key word is Lord, meaning master. If Jesus is not your true Lord (Master), the person that has the right to tell you what to do, then you are not in the "will of God." In (Luke 6:46 ESV) '46 “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?' The Lord requires our obedience to His Word to remain in His will and to be His followers. This is the requirement, not us giving Him lip service. Too many people call themselves Christians without actually following God and His Word. Many people want to live their life and their own lifestyle the way they want to live it, and they call themselves Christian. This can never be; to be Christian, you must become a follower of Christ and stop following yourself or any other person or thing.
My Thoughts:
As plain as this scripture is, the Lord knows that it is a process to change your life and your thoughts. You start to change your life step by step, one day at a time. This scripture should not be taken lightly simply because of the severity of what it says. When you know better, do better. Once you give your life to Christ, now it is time to align your life up with His Word.
Challenge:
Challenge yourself to pray and read God's Word on a daily basis. As you understand more, start acting out on what it says. Then you will truly see the blessing of the Word of God in your life.
Prayer:
Ask your Heavenly Father to help you to understand His Word and give you the wisdom and understanding needed to act upon it.
