How Do I Find My Voice As A Woman Leader?

(1 Timothy 4:12) Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

As a young woman leader, I found that what I said to those who were also leaders didn't always translate to me being heard or getting acknowledgment for what I said. Even when it came to young people, I found myself trying especially hard to be heard and seen as an authority on the matter for which I was speaking. Then one day, a very important person to me said, the voice you are using will always be yours, but as soon as you place your mouth in service to God's words, they come to life! This sentiment was confirmed by the angel Gabriel to Mary in Luke 1:37 when he said, "For no word from God will ever fail.”

I understood the Lord speaking to me about my voice in this way. Daughter, I assure you and most solemnly say that unless you give up on trying to be heard in the arenas you have been yelling and screaming for someone to notice you and take you seriously, your voice will only be one of many. However, when you give up on them and give in to Me (your Heavenly Father), the significance of your voice will be so that what you have to say will not only be heard but will also manifest in great abundance.

I've always known that words can hurt in ways that one may not be able to recover from. I did not realize that words have the power to heal, qualify, and empower those targeted by them. While reading the Bible, I started to find the benefits of words are far more than what I learned in school, at home, and at Church. In those places, I was taught to be cautious about hurting someone with my words but not taught how to be intentional about benefitting someone with my words. Learning to become intentionally beneficial came only through reading the Word of God.

A perfect example and promise about the power of God's word from the Bible is in:

(Isaiah 55:11 NIV) "As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it." This scripture is so powerful because the guarantee in it is that everything that the Lord has spoken will definitely produce the end result He intended.

The Lord is reminding us, as women, that there is nothing trivial about us, especially our voice! The voice that we or others sometimes take for granted or even if it has been used against us is a powerful gift from our Heavenly Father to us! The next time you are in a situation where you previously went unheard, do not take what you say lightly, even when it seems as though others do. When we receive a word from the Lord, trust in His voice and take heed to know that what you say will come to fruition because God has spoken it to you. So when you speak, speak with the courage, strength, and powerful voice the Lord gave you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am grateful to you for your Word. I appreciate the benefit of you for us! I ask that you touch the tongue of every person reading this who has the desire to be beneficial in speech as well as in their deeds. Since perfection comes through you, I ask that you formulate the perfect phrases in our mouths for each and every situation and circumstance that we, your children, will encounter. In this way, our words will produce the results we so sincerely need. Thank you for hearing us and answering our request in Jesus' name. Amen!
