The Lord Is On My Side!

Updated: Jan 3, 2023

How do I know the Lord is on my side?

(Psalm 118:6 ESV) '6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?'

Scripture Thought:

The Lord is on my side, that's right, the Lord is on the side of His people. That may sound strange to some folks, the Lord picking sides but He absolutely does. In says in Micah 7:10 "Then my enemies will see that the Lord is on my side. They will be ashamed that they taunted me." The enemies are the people who are against God and against His people. The key word in understanding this verse is the word, Lord. Lord simply means master, ruler, authority, and influencer.

When you choose God to be your Lord and Savior through Jesus Christ you have made Him Lord (master) of your life, you have become His people. You do this first part through confession and belief outlined in (Romans 10:9-10), but the most important part is to become a follower of Jesus Christ and put God's Word into action in your life. This is what Jesus says to people who claim to follow Him but actually do not listen to Him. He said in (Luke 6:46 NASB) “Now why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?"

My Thoughts:

So, to make it plain, if you want the Lord on your side, you have to become His people, and God is a ferocious protector of His people. That is why scripture tells us not to fear man because the Lord is the One who protects us. (Isaiah 41:10 NLT) '10 Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.'

Challenge:

Seek God continually in your life. Seek to know Him and His Word better on a consistent basis because this will give you a better understanding of who He is as you develop a greater relationship with Him. Continue to read and pray, and ask for strength in the area of humility.

Prayer:

Ask your Heavenly Father to help you to understand His Word and give you the wisdom and understanding needed to act upon it.
