God knows we have needs here on this Earth and he is willing to provide and support us under certain conditions.
(Matthew 6:33 ESV) '33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.'
Scripture Thought:
In this world, we have needs and the Lord is very aware of them. He is so aware of them that He addressed our needs in this (Matthew 6:33) scripture. To get the fullness of this scripture you have to actually cover the verses right before it. In (Matthew 6:31-32 ESV) '31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.' This speaks of our earthly needs and tells us that God is aware of them. Then Jesus interrupts the talk about our earthly needs and tells us that something is more important than them. He tells us to seek God and His kingdom first!
What, why would Jesus say that? Well, we must first understand more about the attributes of God. One of the attributes specifically is the Lord is our provider. The Lord's promise to be our provider is based on your belonging to Him. When we seek God and His kingdom (principle/Word) first, we are pursuing the very God who has the ability to bless us and provide for us.
Jesus wanted us to put things in order, God must be first, not second. Jesus wanted us to prioritize the most important thing, which is our God. He wanted us to know that God is the source of all good things, and therefore, get Him and He will make a way for you to be provided for. By prioritizing your needs before God, you make yourself 100% responsible for yourself, your family, and your outcome. Unfortunately, by doing this, you put yourself in the place of God, with your finite resources, instead of putting God first with His infinite resources.
My Thoughts:
Worry, anxiousness, and concern, are all feelings and emotions we have when we have some form of lack in our lives. Most people go through all of these feelings and emotions at one point in their life regarding something. The blessing of having God in our lives is He has the ability to provide for us, whatever needs we have. Whether it is physical, relational, spiritual, financial, etc. When we have the Lord on our side scripture literally says who can be against us (Romans 8:31). Jesus knew how important it is that we seek God above all things because He is the complete answer in this life and in the next.
Challenge:
Seek God continually in your life. Seek to know Him and His Word better on a consistent basis because this will give you a better understanding of who He is as you develop a greater relationship with Him.
Prayer:
Ask your Heavenly Father to help you to understand His Word and give you the wisdom and understanding needed to act upon it.
